Wassa Amenfi Awadees of Opportunity for youth employemnt program .

The Department of Social Welfare and Community Development in collaboration with Presbyterian Relief Services and Development (PRESED) have successfully given skills training job to three hundred and one (301) vulnerable youth comprising of two hundred and seventy six (276) females and twenty five (25) males within nine (9) communities namely, Abeneso Odoomkrom, Nsuopon, Wassa Moseaso, Marfokrom, Damoahkrom, Ntwentwena, Wassa Saa, Wassa Saamang and Wassa Japa in the Wassa Amenfi East Municipality.

The project which is been sponsored by SNV Netherlands Development and European Union as part of Boosting Green Employment and Enterprise Opportunities in Ghana (GrEEn) is being implemented in ten (10) districts in Ashanti and Western Region in Ghana. Beneficiaries were taking through Entrepreneurship skills training from February to July, 2022 in three sectors, namely; Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Renewable Energy and Agriculture with the aim of promoting business activities which has the capacity to preserve the natural environment to help in reducing climate change.

Beneficiaries with any innovative business ideas with the aim of promoting GrEEn were given the opportunity to apply for business plan competition organised by SNV Netherlands Development and European Union in Kumasi. Four (4) co-operative groups comprising of hundred and two (102) beneficiaries and two (2) individuals who are into sole proprietorship businesses from Abeneso-Odoomkrom, Wassa Moseaso, Damoahkrom and Wassa Akropong were given the opportunity to pitch their business ideas and all won a grant totaling GHS 137,850.00 to invest into their respective businesses namely; organic weedicide and fertilizer production, Pig Farming, poultry farming and soap making.
